Let's Dance

Greetings from Győr where the 17th Hungarian Dance Festival is starting today! I will be here for the whole week and try to do my best to report about as many programmes as possible.

This morning at 10 o’clock, the 7th Children’s Dance Festival is kicking off at the Győr National Theatre’s Kisfaludy Room with the National Dance Theatre’s production In Mirror which reflects on the life of a teenage ballet student.

Also, at 10 am the exhibition called How Did Ballet Arrive in Hungary? Is opening at the Museum House, followed by a symposium of the same title.

The Children’s Dance Festival is continuing at 3 pm with Hacukaland, a dress-up adventure by Góbi Dance Company and Bábszíntér. The genre itself sounds playfully intriguing.

At 6.30 pm the exhibition 12 Years-12 Pictures is opening in the memory of Iván Markó on the Győr National Theatre’s Chandelier Floor, then at 7 pm, the festival will be officially opening with a ceremony followed by One Way to Heaven, a production by the Ballet Company of Győr, Róbert Hrutka and Jamie Winchester. The show that opened last year at the Palace of Arts in Budapest, will be finally presented in Győr for the first time.

Day 1's closing cord will be the concert of the popular band, PASO on the open-air stage in front of the theatre.

Now, I’ve got a little time for a coffee and then I’m off to Kisfaludy Room. It seems my dance card is full not only for today but also for the whole week. How about yours?
